Open Mic night at ETNA
Theme: Refugee Week – “Community is a Superpower.”
Join us for Open Mic Night, hosted in the Turner Room. Connect with fellow poets and performers in a warm, inclusive environment.
The featured reader is Roz Doe. As well as being a poet, Roz is a support worker with unaccompanied child refugees. Her book Welcoming Blue Robins includes some of her child clients as well as her own writing.
Everyone is welcome to share their voice or simply enjoy the creativity of the community!
The event is run by Palewell Press, a local indie publisher on a mission to help refugees and other marginalised groups, like the homeless.
They are run on a non-profit basis, publishing books on Human Rights, Climate Change and Lost Wellbeing. Since 2016 they have published over 80 books, many written by refugees.
Camilla Reeve, Founder and Senior Editor, describes what they do as cultural activism, helping people share their stories and changing the world one book at a time. To browse their wonderful books and to volunteer or donate, go to https://palewellpress.co.uk/
£5 or free for concessions – including refreshments.
