What can you bring to the Team
Knowledge and Experience
- Computer literate with a good level of understanding of Microsoft Office – Excel/Word/Outlook
- A clear understanding of the role of a Trustee
- An understanding of the work of the voluntary and community sector would be helpful, but not essential
Personal Qualities
- The commitment necessary to devote sufficient time, preparation and effort required to meet the responsibilities of being a Trustee.
- Integrity, honesty and flexibility
- Active listening skills, openness to the views of others and a willingness to work alongside colleagues
- Commitment to inclusion and diversity
Your role:
- Overseeing the governance of ETNA with the Chair and other Trustees
- Being part of sub-committees when required to support the staff team on specific projects
- Working alongside Chair on any strategic decisions for the charity
Desirable:
- Fundraising, property management, marketing or HR skills
Trustee Role
Time Commitment
Six evening meetings a year with the possibility of additional time for specific tasks and sub-committees plus a few community events throughout the year. Plus meetings with ETNA Management Team.

Meetings are held at ETNA Community Centre, 13 Rosslyn Road, TW1 2AR

Purpose
The Board of Trustees is responsible for overall governance and strategic direction of ETNA, developing ETNA aims, objectives and goals in accordance with its governing documents, and legal and regulatory requirements.
Our Trustees work with collectively and effectively with our Centre Director by giving strategic direction to ETNA and determining our objectives. They make decisions required for the management of ETNA, ensuring compliance, good governance and adequate financial resources for our Centre. They also ensure we manage risks carefully, act as a responsible employer, and uphold the principles of equality and diversity. The Board of Trustees currently has nine members who are multi-skilled. Some roles have additional responsibility: Chair, Deputy Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and Safeguarding Lead.
